Marian Salzman, CEO of Havas PR North America, has been elected executive chair of Tucson Values Teachers, a group that works to recruit, retain and reward educators in southern Arizona.
More than a quarter of the teachers in the region say they don't plan to be teaching five years ago.
Salzman said her family began a slow relocation to Arizona in 2012. She has seen the disparity in education there compared to other parts of the country. Her goal is to make every teacher as respected as she is as a CEO.
Salzman told O'Dwyer's she plans to keep busy at Havas, which opens a Phoenix outpost this month.
She's in Arizona about 10 days a month.
