andrew lackAndrew Lack, who became the first CEO and director at the Broadcasting Board of Governors in January, has resigned his post to pave the way for his return to NBC News.

The BBG board released a statement to praise Lack's passion for its work, appreciation of its history and understanding of its mission.

It will begin a search for find an "equally talented executive" to Lack.

Lack is expected to replace replace NBCUniversal News Group chair Pat Fili-Krushel who will shift to another position.

He ran NBC News from 1993 to 2001.

The BBG is the parent of Voice of America, Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, Middle East Broadcasting Networks, Radio Free Asia and Radio and TV Marti.
