matt lloydIndiana Gov. Mike Pence has brought in Koch Industries PR exec, Matt Lloyd, following the resignation of Christy Denault earlier this month.

Matt Lloyd, director of communications for Koch in Washington, was communications director during Pence’s 10-year run in Congress. He will relocate to Indiana at the end of the school year.

Pence has faced national blowback over his state’s religious freedom law, drawing the ire of Indian’s business community and moving the Hoosier State to hire Porter Novelli to help fix the PR damage.

"Matt is a person of character whose judgment I value greatly," Pence said in a statement.

Lloyd was chief of staff to Rep. Marlin Stutzman (R-Ind.) and earlier served as press secretary to Reps. Kevin Brady (R-Tex.) and Rick Hill (R-Mt.).

Denault stepped down in mid-April at the height of the Religious Freedom Restoration Act controversy, saying she wanted to spend more time with her young children.
