Jimmy StantonThe Tennessee Titans National Football League team has hired Jimmy Stanton to the VP-communications post, a new position.

He will join the Titans next month and handle media relations, digital, community relations and oversight of the broadcasting and production departments.

Steve Underwood, interim president, said the team is looking to better integrate various units that "interact directly with our fans."

He lauded Stanton's previous run with the Nashville-based team and strong ties with regional media.

During the past six years, Stanton was senior associate athletics director for communications at University of Tennessee and executive director for PR & marketing at the University of Kentucky.

He spent eight years with the Houston Astros Major League Baseball team, rising to the media relations director job.

Stanton also did a two-year stint in the Titans media unit.
