Three PR firms are working Apollo Global Management's $1B purchase of OM Group as the private equity firm plans to take the industrial company private and sell its electronic chemicals and photomasks operation.
Kekst and Company represents Cleveland-based OM Group in the transaction.
Gary Stein leads corporate communications for Apollo, which is working with Rubenstein Associates and reached a deal for OM at $34 per share in cash, a 28% premium.
In a statement, Apollo partner Scott Kleinman said the deal highlights his firm's "deep expertise and long history" in the chemicals and materials sciences businesses.
Weber Shandwick handles Platform Specialty Products Corp., which is buying the OM chemicals and photomasks unit for $365M in cash as part of the overall transaction.
OM last year kicked off a strategic review that led its board to the Apollo deal. The board has a 35 window to look for a better deal.
