Marlin Collingwood, a veteran of Mullen, Bell Pottinger USA, Rubenstein PR and Capitol Hill, is the new executive director of the Families for Depression Awareness organization.

Collingwood turned to FFDA several years ago when his husband was diagnosed with depression.

He said it was "very helpful in understanding his diagnosis and in tackling my role as primary caregiver."

The PR veteran relied on FFDA's services again last year after his husband committed suicide.

FFDA conducted an extensive search for a new leader, according to Carol Thomas, chair.

She said Collingwood possesses the professional experience in executive communications, agency management and PA, plus personal experience that makes him the right person for the job.
