She'll work from the WPP unit's Washington and New York offices.

Solomon exited the WSJ as energy & environmental correspondent. Previously, she reported on economic policy, Washington's response to the financial crisis, Securities and Exchange Commission, telecommunications sector and state/local politics.

Notably, Solomon was part of the WSJ team that covered the collapse and scandal surrounding WorldCom.

She began her career at the San Francisco Chronicle.

Stephen Labaton, Finsbury's US president, served as staff writer at the New York Times for more than 20 years.
