Facebook corporate communications director Larry Yu is leaving the company for the start-up tech PR firm The Pramana Collective.
Yu exits after nearly five years, joining when Facebook was a private company and working through its IPO last May. He joined Facebook from Google in 2008, where he was senior manager of product communications, handling PR for Google Earth and Maps.
Earlier, he was a group VP at MWW and manager of executive communications for Cisco.
At Pramana, Yu joins former Facebook colleague Brandee Barker, Twitter PR alum Sean Garrett, and former Skype communicator Brian O'Shaughnessy.
"Nearly five years ago, I joined some friends at a privately-held company called Facebook to help a small team scale and expand upon the company’s story," Yu wrote in a Facebook post today. "That journey was, in a word, crazy. And fun. Terrifying. And gratifying. So I’m off to do it again."
The Pramana founders said they only handle projects and won't take on agency of record and retainer PR work.
Tucker Bounds is manager of corporate comms. at Facebook.
