Hill+Knowlton Strategies has hired Mark Edgar, who was managing editor of the Dallas Morning News and 30-year veteran of the paper, for the senior VP slot in that city effective Sept. 1.

Mark Krutchik, Allison+Partners pro and Edison Group founder, will take the senior VP position in Los Angeles on Aug. 31. He began his career as attorney at Barger & Wolen in LA.

At the DMN, Edgar supervised the metro, Texas/southwest, national, international and political desks.

Besides leading coverage of presidential elections from Bush I through Obama, Edgar led front-line desk operations for Hurricane Katrina and the Iraq war.

Mike Coates, H+K's Americas chief, praised Edgar's "unmatched perspective," a valued commodity during this time of rapid technological change and communications upheaval.

Krutchik has counseled Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, Lowe's, General Mills, Healthcare Leadership Council, 21st Century Insurance and California Tobacco Control Program.
