Ed Lewi, founder of Ed Lewi Assocs. in upstate New York, died Aug. 29. He was 81.

He founded the firm in 1960s and did work for the Lake Placid Olympics, New York Racing Assn., US Figure Skating Assn., Hannaford Supermarkets and Saratoga Performing Arts Center.

Lewi, who began his career as sports reporter for Daily Gazette, Associated Press and Times-Union, before moving into the PR sector.

He sold his firm to its president Mark Bardack, and retired in 2010.

A celebration of Lewi's life is slated for Saratoga Race Course tomorrow at noon.
