Matthias MullerMatthias Muller, Porsche AG chief, is replacing Martin Winterkorn Volkswagen CEO in the aftermath of the German automaker's emissions scandal that affects 11M of its cars sold worldwide.

Muller, according to the Wall Street Journal has close ties with Volkswagen's controlling Porsche and Piech families.

He also has good relationships with Volkswagen's unions.

Muller took the Porsche helm in 2010.
