Weber Shandwick continues to widen its foothold in the healthcare communications landscape. On the heels of its January acquisition of Nashville-based healthcare PR and marketing agency ReviveHealth, the Interpublic PR giant has now announced a series of appointments across the agency’s global healthcare practice, which includes key executive roles to lead the agency’s strategic growth in the healthcare arena worldwide, as well as healthcare promotions in the agency's New York, Chicago and Minneapolis offices.

The new appointments are: Peter Gay, global executive creative director of healthcare; Barbara Box, executive vice president and North America healthcare strategy lead; Jamie Dowd, executive vice president and New York healthcare practice lead; Cori McKeever Ashford, executive vice president and Chicago healthcare practice lead; and Kristen Thistle, executive vice president and Minneapolis healthcare practice lead.

Gay’s title of global healthcare executive creative director is a newly minted role for Weber Shandwick. Stationed in the agency’s New York office, he’ll spearhead creative solutions for healthcare clients across the agency’s global network. Gay previously held the title of executive vice president and North American healthcare creative director, and has led the agency's presence at the Lions Health Festival for the past two years. He joined the agency in 2011, first working out of Weber Shandwick's Toronto office.

As executive vice president of Weber Shandwick’s North America healthcare practice, Box will utilize the agency’s proprietary strategic planning process, INCITE, to serve the practice’s new and existing clients, and will partner with the agency’s INCITE team across the globe. Box was previously executive VP of Weber’s New York healthcare practice, and also led the agency’s Chicago Healthcare team, overseeing management and development of healthcare accounts in both cities.

Dowd succeeds Box as executive vice president and New York Healthcare practice lead, and will now be responsible for the continued development of the agency’s New York healthcare practice, providing expertise for many of the practice’s biggest clients. She will also manage more than 50 healthcare team members in various Weber Shandwick offices around the world.

Ashford, as executive vice president of Weber’s Chicago healthcare practice, will guide the agency's healthcare team in that city. Previously senior VP of Weber's Chicago healthcare practice, Ashford specializes in biopharmaceutical and corporate health clients, as well as healthcare associations and public health.

Promoted to executive vice president, Thistle will lead Weber’s Minneapolis healthcare practice. A 17-year agency veteran, Thistle has produced award-winning campaigns for national and global accounts, and will now oversee many of the practice’s key client engagements.

Weber Shandwick’s January acquisition of ReviveHealth, one of the largest independent healthcare PR agencies in the U.S., effectively surged the agency’s healthcare presence, and linked its longstanding activity in the science and pharma worlds with ReviveHealth’s B2B healthcare expertise.
