Silvia Alvarez, who handled communications for the New York City Dept. of Consumer Affairs, has moved to New York Law School as VP of communications.

Alvarez heads the private school's office of marketing and communications and event management.
Dean and president Anthony Crowell said Alvarez will help communicate the school's contributions to legal education as it marks its 125th anniversary.
Alvarrez was acting associate commissioner of comms. and marketing at the NYCDOCA. She was also state press secretary for Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.) and deputy press secretary for the Bloomberg administration.
On the agency side she was a director in Burson-Marsteller's public affairs unit. She also served as Major League Baseball's director of multicultural and charitable communiciations.
