Lattman is slated to take the post of managing director of media, overseeing the organization's media initiatives around supporting and investing in journalism and content.

Lattman was a financial reporter and media editor for the Wall Street Journal before the Times.

Emerson Collective has taken a behind-the-scenes role in philanthropic pursuits, including immigration and education. Former Secretary of Education Arne Duncan joined the group this month as a managing partner.

Lattman profiled Ms. Jobs' entry into philanthropy in 2013 for the Times.
