When the team was founded, Redskins was a slur, plain and simple. For years there was a high school team in the town of Pekin, Illinois called the "Chinks" until it was changed. There is nothing heroic or noble in the name Redskins. Can you imagine a team called the Chicago Round-Eyes or the Detroit Coloreds? It's past time to acknowledge this offensive moniker and change it. This is the 21st century, for crying out loud!
Well, what is so wrong with the name "Washington Native Americans"? If Dan Snyder follows sports much, he should know that NEVER is something that someone in charge should never say. Just look at Augusta National Golf Club for a primo example.
