International law firm Squire Patton Boggs has been hired to represent healthcare services giant United Health Group in Capitol Hill on issues related to healthcare.

United Health GroupSquire Patton Boggs, which maintains one of the largest health law and policy practices in the country, will specifically assist United Health Group in Washington on issues related to health insurance program Medicare Advantage.

UnitedHealth Group, parent of UnitedHealthcare, is the largest single health carrier in the nation. Founded in 1977, the Minnetonka, MN-based company currently serves 70 million people throughout the U.S. The company in 2015 reported an operating income of $11 billion.

A four-member lobbyist team will handle the account, including Squire Patton Boggs senior counselor John Breaux, former United States senator (D-LA); senior counselor Trent Lott, former senator (R-MS) and senate majority leader; principal Jim Matheson, former US rep. (D-UT); and associate Beth Goldstein, former legislative staff to the U.S. House of Representatives.
