Omnicom’s global PR unit FleishmanHillard has laid out a bold new pro bono commitment for 2016, offering $5 million in services toward projects in markets where the agency maintains offices.

The new initiative adds $2 million to FH’s existing pro bono endeavors, which totaled $3.6 million in 2015. The move comes as the agency celebrates its 70th anniversary this year.

FleishmanHillardFH’s latest commitment is focused on the cause of “social inclusion,” or projects and organizations that support a society where people’s basic needs are met and all feel valued and respected.

The agency's offices in July will identify organizations, initiatives or charities that champion social inclusion and will then dedicate time and resources helping those causes share their message.

Individual FH offices can elect what projects they feel will generate the most impact for their communities, and can use their resources as well as the agency's range of service offerings in whatever avenues the organization needs support.

The initiative includes all of FH’s 80-plus global offices. Agency offices are currently in the beginning stages of finding partner organizations and opportunities.

“The idea for our anniversary celebration came from our employees,” FleishmanHillard president and CEO John Saunders told O’Dwyer’s. “Rather than a party or permanent monument to mark the occasion, they wanted to get out and volunteer in their communities. Social inclusion was identified as a cause all of our global offices could rally around, from our headquarters in St. Louis to Brussels to Shanghai and everywhere in between.”
