The Dark Web refers to websites that cannot be found using common search engines such as Google and Yahoo. In order to visit them you have to use the same encryption as the website and more importantly know where to find the site in order to type in the correct URL.

The Deep Web refers to all websites that search engines cannot find, including those on the Dark Web, but also a lot of relatively boring pages, such as registration forms behind paywalls and company intranets.

Flashpoint's website claims "our team of white hat hackers, multilingual maestros, and intel geeks has built programs for the Fortune 500, caught bad guys for the government, and helped leaders make tough decisions."

"I've spent the past 18 months working with buyers and influencers to better understand their threat intelligence needs, and it's become strikingly clear that Business Risk Intelligence is what organizations are seeking to enable their broader business functions to make informed decisions that mitigate risk and improve operations," Leggio said

Flashpoint has made other key hires recently including Chris Camacho, formerly senior VP of global information security at Bank of America, as chief strategy officer; Tom Hoffman, formerly cyber intelligence lead at PNC, as VP of intelligence; and Brian Costello, formerly VP of public sector sales at Invincea, as VP, global sales and solution architecture.
