Michael A. Buczkowski has been named chief marketing officer of California continuing education institution UCLA Extension.

Buczkowski, a former Chicago-based marketing veteran, was owner and CEO of digital advertising agency Digit Integration. Prior to that he was owner and CEO of the Ignition Network, which he founded in 2006. He was previously CEO and president of Leo Burnett property asterisk, and was an executive VP of global advertising agency network DraftFCB. He also held marketing roles at The Coca-Cola Company and AT&T AdWorks.

Buczkowski is now charged with heading marketing strategies to build the Westwood, California-based institution's brand.

UCLA Extension, which offers a UCLA-approved curriculum with 5,000 courses and more than 100 certificate programs, is part of the University of California system. It was founded in 1917.
