The US and Sudan last year agreed on a five-part program to lift the economic embargo next month, contingent on the final approval of the Trump Administration.

To remove the sanctions, Sudan promised to improve human rights especially in its Darfur region and resolve conflicts with political opponents and militant groups.

Saudi Arabia also is pushing for the end of US sanctions to reward Sudan for its backing of Arab and Islamic issues, according to media reports.
