Weber Shandwick is committed to using its “best efforts to effect a smooth transition” of its $1.2M Egypt contract to APCO Worldwide, according to its assignment agreement dated July 28.

The contract covers Egypt’s strategic relationship with the US and economic development. APCO will highlight the “key attributes of a civic society” and Egypt’s role in managing regional risk. Egypt is part of the Arab coalition that is blockading Qatar.

Weber is to transfer digital accounts and all materials prepared for the Egyptians.

It will retain $7,680 of the $300,00 invoice for the three-month period ending Oct. 18 and pay the balance to APCO.

The Interpublic unit has invoiced Egypt in advance for media buys. Egypt has paid Weber $250K for media, of which $145K has been used. APCO and Weber will cooperate to ensure payment of the invoiced and unbilled expenses.
