California health advocates, alarmed at cell towers planned next to every 5-10 homes, are in an all-out push to stop state bill SB 649 that would allow that. Especially targeted are firefighters who have blocked such towers near firehouses.

Medical writer Susan Foster has authored "Cell Tower Hypocrisy: Rescuing Firefighters Not Kids" for Fearless Parent.

Firefighters have a 17-year history of fighting cell towers near firehouses while ignoring the threat they present to those in other places, she says.

Last year more than 300,000 members of the International Assn. of Firefighters demanded that cell towers not be placed on firehouses because they emit dangerous pulsed radiation.

Say Foster and others: if pulsed radiation is bad for fighters it is also bad for the publics they serve. The radiation is a far bigger health threat than fire or smoke, especially damaging to those who work 7-8 hours a day in places bathed in radiation, she adds. Children and seniors are also particular victims.

Firefighters Exempted

Fearless Parent - Cell Tower Hypocrisy: Rescuing Firefighters Not Kids

For the first time ever, a health exemption on cell tower installations has been granted -- and this is to the firefighters of California for their stations, says Foster in an open letter to Gov. Jerry Brown.

Backers say the exemption was given for a technical reason—interference with their signals, but that is not the case, says Foster. “There is a solid 17-year history of firefighters in California and across the U.S. fighting cell towers on their stations due to adverse health effects.

The cell towers will be on lampposts, signs, county and city buildings, and the right-of-way, she says. “4G and then 5G technology is being used. 5G millimeter technology is virtually untested on humans, though it is used in airport body scanners and by the military. This is happening in at least half the states, though many are unaware. The move to get the 5G infrastructure in place around the world is currently in process.”

Brown Urged to Listen to World

Brown, says the Foster letter, “was cheered by crowds at the G20 Summit in Brussels when he announced California will become a de facto leader in climate change. Therefore, I would like Gov. Brown to hear from the world on this issue, too. I am calling for a pause, and independent study of this issue before we expose the most vulnerable in our population to what could be irreversible damage from 5G's 24/7 exposure. I invite friends around the world -- from California to Canada, the UK, Sweden, Greece, Russia and everywhere in between -- to contact the governor to ask that he veto SB 649.”

“We want health ahead of driverless cars, appliances communicating with each other, and faster downloads. 5G can warm the surface tissue -- eyes, skin and testes. With the phased array software that will allow 5G to penetrate homes, human cells will be "scrambling", and many of us worry the heating effects will thus penetrate vital organs.”
