Farjami, who officially assumed Storyful’s top role in August, succeeds former CEO Rahul Chopra, a News Corp. alum who had led the company since 2014.

Farjami joins Storyful from Sydney, Australia-based media company Foxtel, where he served as director of content commercialisation. Prior to that he was chief commercial officer and director of sales at News Corp Australia as well as chief operating officer and chief investment officer at Australian WPP unit Mindshare. He was formerly a sales director at MTV Australia and a group director Viacom, and later, a national sales director at Ignite Media Brands.

Storyful, which distributes social video news and user-generated content to newsrooms, advertisers and brands, inked a venture with Weber Shandwick earlier this year to launch a digital content service offering titled Cognitive Context.

The Dublin-headquartered company, which was founded in 2010, was acquired by News Corp. in 2013. It maintains additional offices in Sydney, New York, London and Hong Kong.
