College of the Rockies has appointed Erin Gawne executive director, public relations. Gawne comes to the Cranbrook, British Columbia-based college from Edelman, where she was a senior director, providing integrated communications solutions involving brand development, media relations, reputation management, paid advertising, digital communications, stakeholder engagement, and development of online content and print materials. “I have no doubt that her experience and background will be of great benefit to the college,” said College of the Rockies president and CEO David Walls. “We look forward to her contributions to our community.”

WordWrite Communications has hired Diana Dugina as creative director. Before joining WordWrite, Dugina was an independent creative and art director at her own firm. She previously worked at Della Femina McNamee and formed a three-person creative boutique, The Ad Farm. At WordWrite, she will oversee all facets of comprehensive branding initiatives, digital and traditional print advertising, and broadcast creative direction. "In the 21st century, public relations has evolved to include full creative services,” said Paul Furiga, President and CEO of WordWrite Communications. “With Diana, we will grow our creative department."

Huntington, NY-based Epoch 5 Public Relations has promoted Kathleen Caputi to the position of senior vice president. Caputi has more than 20 years of experience heading up marketing programs for clients in the legal, real estate, accounting, transportation, architecture and aging services industries. Prior to Epoch 5 Public Relations, she worked for Cablevision Systems Corporation in the company’s marketing, creative services and human resources departments. Among the industry awards she has won are the MarCom Gold, Summit International Award and APEX Writing Award.
