Wow! Sarah Palin has injected her star power into the Brooklyn/Staten Island Congressional race, proving she hasn't written off the Big Apple.

Alaska’s half-term governor, on July 30 (last Friday) endorsed Marine Corps vet and former FBI agent Mike Grimm in the Republican primary. He is up against Michael Allegretti for the right to face Democratic incumbent Mike McMahon.

The 13th Congressional District was long held by Republicans, taken by the Dems following the resignation of Vito Fossella after it was found that he maintained a “second family” in Virginia.

Palin believes Grimm has a shot to restore the seat to its Republican glory and providing the GOP its sole seat in New York City. What if Grimm knocks off Allegretti. Will Sarah be knocking on doors in Brooklyn? More importantly, will she be knocking on my door? I would love to meet Palin and the rest of the clan.

McMahon has many Democrats less than enthused with his track record. Notably, he bailed on healthcare.

While Grimm was basking in the glow of Palin’s endorsement, McMahon was combating reports that a top aide compiled list of Grimm's “Jewish contributors” who lived outside of the District. It was truly a bone-headed move. McMahon scored some points in dumping the aide, but the damage is done.

John McCain and Rudy Giuliani also have endorsed Grimm. With all due respect to Big Mac and Rudy, I betcha Sarah P. will open more doors for Grimm.
