All eyes will be focused on Mike Huckabee during tonight’s Republican YouTube debate as the former “dark horse” is currently enjoying his 15-minutes of media fame.

Back to Huckleberry. The former Arkansas Governor is closing in on Mitt Romney in Iowa as evangelicals are having second thoughts about pulling the lever for a Mormon. They fret over whether or not Mitt is "real Christian." There are also doubts about Roman Catholic Rudy. Huckabee though is the "real deal." That's why the Baptist minister has trebled his support in the “Hawkeye State” from eight to 24 percent since June. He is the second coming for "values voters.”
More astonishing news: a Zogby International poll shows likable Mike whipping Hillary handily in the Presidential election by a whopping five points (44 percent to 39 percent). That poll rightly raised some serious eyebrows including those of Clinton pollster Mark Penn, who is Burson-Marsteller’s CEO in his other life.
Penn “laughed off” the Zogby poll during Joe Scarborough’s show on MSNBC on Nov. 27. Fritz Wenzel, Zogby’s director of communications, fired back at Penn, saying his reaction is a “knee-jerk reaction by a campaign under pressure coming down the stretch.” The last thing Penn, who already has a full plate, needs is a battle of the pollsters.
This blogger is not yet ready to jump on the Huckabee bandwagon. Mike’s current popularity is bound to bite as the media digs into his record of accomplishment in “The Natural State.”
That roster of achievement focuses mainly on playing a mean guitar and losing 100 pounds after a doctor told Huckabee that he felt lousy because he was a tub.
Huckabee famously told the doc that he wanted a second opinion. “Okay, you’re ugly too,” was the reply. Kudos to Mike for widely sharing that tidbit.
Huckabee has the best line among Presidential wannabes. “Give Hope a second chance,” is the theme from the guy who shares the same hometown as Bill Clinton.
Romney and Huckabee will be at each other throats leading up to the January vote in Iowa. That fight is sweet music to Giuliani, who is eager to knock Mitt off strike.
If Huckabee has any shot at moving to Washington, it will be as Veep to Rudy.
