You remember, Scaife. He is the guy who bankrolled Hillary's “vast right-wing conspiracy,” spending millions on the “Arkansas Project” that tortured President Clinton. The T-R was the paper that pushed the allegation that Hillary had Vince Foster, the White House lawyer who committed suicide, killed.
This blogger understands that Pennsylvania is a do-or-die primary state for Clinton, but has she no shame? Clinton’s tete-a-tete with Scaife reinforces the notion that she will do whatever it takes—even selling her soul—to win the election.
The gang at the conservative National Review is yukking it up over Clinton’s wooing of Scaife. “Hell Has Officially Frozen Over” is the headline of a blog written by Bryon York over there.
Clinton used her Scaife meeting to sling more mud at Barack Obama and his “spiritual mentor” Rev. Jeremiah Wright. Perhaps, she learned a lesson or two from Scaife.
Team Obama, for its part, responded with a nasty post today on his website, saying “Clinton’s fantastic invention of a sniper-raked landing is only one in a growing list of instances in which she has exaggerated her role as First Lady, particularly with respect to domestic policy.”
Democrats are fed up with verbal sniping tactics of both Clinton and Obama. A Gallup poll released today found that 28 percent of Clinton backers will vote for John McCain in November if Hillary is not nominated. Nineteen percent of Obama backers would pull it for McCain if their guy isn’t nominated.
Those numbers will rise if the mud slinging continues to the August convention. Clinton or Obama would emerge as damaged goods and limp into the general election with McCain.
Democrats would then lose their greatest chance to win the White House since Franklin Roosevelt took Herbert Hoover to the cleaners in 1932. The Democratic trouncing would be the biggest collapse since the beloved New York Mets fell to the Phillies last year.
Let’s Go Dems (Get it Together). Let’s Go Mets.
