In a PR battle of two harbor cities, a pair of
Worldcom firms has put PR skills on the table in a Stanley Cup final wager between Boston and Vancouver.

Beantown’s
Schneider & Associates and Vancouver’s
Pace Group have agreed to write a fawning press release about the opposing city should their respective team fall in the best-of-seven hockey series underway.
The Boston Bruins trail the Vancouver Canucks
in the series, 2-1, with game 4 set for Wednesday night.

“The only other thing we are better at than winning world championships is holding ticker tape rolling rallies downtown each year,” chided S&A president Joan Schneider, noting the recent champion Celtics (’07), Red Sox (’04, ’07) and Patriots (’01, ’03, ’04). She predicts a Boston victory in game 7.
To further the losing firm's humiliation, the gratis release is subject to approval by the winner and must be distributed to major media on the day of the winning team’s parade.
Norman Stowe, managing partner of the Pace Group, scoffs at the suggestion of another celebration in Boston.
“We know this year’s Stanley Cup victory parade will be in downtown Vancouver,” he boldly stated, adding, “We’re happy to take the bet, and Joan’s firm should start drafting the release today.”
