The McCain Campaign has taken a lot of heat for limiting press access to Sarah Palin after the Vice Presidential candidate “bombed” during her chat with Katic Couric. This blogger disagrees with the campaign's decision, but understands the rationale. McCain wants to be the next President.

The Alaskan Governor simply cannot handle a one-on-one chat with a reporter. She is all over the place. Take a look at Palin's performance with Jacksonville TV anchor Shannon Ogden.

Enough said. Imagine Palin before a roomful of hungry reporters. It would not be a pretty sight.

Palin, however, will soon step into a very bright national spotlight: an appearance on “Saturday Night Live.” The Associated Press reported today that Palin is itching to appear on SNL and meet her impersonator, Tina Fey. “I love her, she’s a hoot and she’s so talented,” said Palin.

“It would be fun to meet her, imitate her and keep on giving her new material.” Of a Palin appearance, Lorne Michaels, executive producer of the SNL, said “all in good time.”

An SNL appearance would be a PR grand slam for Palin and the campaign. Palin would be tightly scripted, as she was during the debate with Joe Biden. Palin held her own during the Biden debate. A scripted Palin would do well on SNL.

Fey's take on Palin has provided SNL with a major ratings boost. It's only right that the show give Palin a shot.
