Undoubtedly, the conservative High Court wants McCain to be the next Commander-in-Chief as it wanted in Bush vs. Gore. The Supremes need to get creative. There must be some legal basis to temporarily halt the vote. After all, it is in the national interest to have the campaign roll on in all of its splendor.
This election season is just too good to end. The Presidential race has pulled us together, restoring faith and optimism in America that surely needed doses of both. Young and old are fired up. Rich and poor are pumped. There’s a buzz in the air. Let Obama and McCain tangle a little longer. Schedule a couple more debates, which are the only true “must-see” stuff on TV. What's the harm?The campaign, which launched in late 2006 when John Edwards tossed his hat into the ring, deserves every accolade. Talk about diversity. The two tickets feature a black, senior citizen, woman and Catholic. Even Vice President Dick Cheney has emerged from the bunker to enter the fray, much to the delight of Obama. What better fun is there than watching McCain slither and squirm away from the Bush Administration? Or how about listening to Obama fend off accusations that he is a tax-hiking, terrorist-supporting and card-carrying member of the Weather Underground?
Note to the GOP, Obama today voted just ahead of Bill Ayers at their Chicago polling station. Wonder if Barry gave Bill a lift to the polls?
The undercard of Biden and Palin is also a knockout. Who can predict what those crazies will say next? Unfortunately, Joe has been somewhat reeled in by Democratic minders after he questioned why Obama chose him in the first place when Hillary Clinton was available. Good question, Joe. My guess is that Barack just wanted to make things interesting. And that whacky Palin, what a hoot! The Pride of Alaska is not going away anytime soon, offering countless opportunities for belly laughs and tons of ink.
The '08 election united the country. That’s evidenced by the record number of Americans who turned out to vote for either McCain or Obama. Voters stood in long lines because they understand that deep and radical change must come to the U.S. after eight dreary years. Both men represent a dramatic improvement over President Bush, who topped a History News Network poll of “worst President ever.” With that news, James Buchanan fans let out a huge sigh of relief.
It's time for the U.S. to not only rejoin the world, but to reassume the leadership role that America once enjoyed. We used to be the beacon. That flame was snuffed by the invasion of Iraq and reports of torture. Obama will certainly have his hands full as next President. But he and the rest of us can handle anything that is dished out. Congratulations to everyone who voted.
