[One wonders what the world’s most famous intern is doing these days.]The White House, according to the New Yorker's Seymour Hersh, is planning once again to put the former President front and center. This time it will be to justify “surgical air strikes” against Iranian nuclear facilities and “short, sharp incursions” by Special Forces units against suspected Revolutionary Guard training sites.
Hersh said the White House PR line will be to position those attacks as necessary to defend U.S. troops in neighboring Iraq. The Bush Administration will tell opponents that President Clinton did the same thing. He ordered bombings in Afghanistan, Sudan and Baghdad to protect American lives.
Clinton, of course, didn’t follow up with a wholesale invasion of any of those places.
