Hillary Clinton’s worst nightmare has come true. Al Gore has won the Nobel Peace.

The Democratic front-runner for the Presidency has graciously (or begrudgingly?) posted a congratulatory note to Al on her website.

It reads:
“Congratulations! Congratulations to Al Gore for his well-deserved Nobel Peace Prize. His dedication and tireless work have been instrumental in raising international awareness about global warming.”

Left out is:
“Bill and I pray that you and Tipper continue your noble campaign. We wish you Godspeed as you travel to every far corner of the world (at least through next November) spreading the word about the threat posed by global warming. Al, rest assured that when you return to the U.S., there is a place for you in the restored Clinton Administration. How does Secretary of the Interior sound?”

Gore supporters are mounting an aggressive drive to get their guy in the Presidential sweepstakes. Bagging the Nobel will intensify that effort.

The media will join the fray. The last thing the media want is a coronation of Clinton as the Democratic nominee. That’s not the way Democrats decide their nominee.

The once promising Barack Obama is slowing fading into the sunset. John Edwards seems to be fizzling out to the point where political observers are pumping up Bill Richardson as the No. 3 guy in the race.

A steel cage political brawl between Al and Hill is a dream come true. C’mon Al, make a run for the biggest stage in the world. Earth is depending on you.
