You won't see former New York Post associate editor Sandra Guzman's sexual and racial discrimination lawsuit filed against the tabloid in the Page Six gossip section of the paper. But boy, what fun the Post gossips would have if the suit was against tabloid rival Daily News. They would be flogging it to death.

guzman -
The complaint has all the ingredients.

It features cameo roles by actress Lindsey Lohan, former New York Giant receiver Plaxico "I Shot Myself" Burress, baseball ace Pedro Martinez, New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson, China's leader Hu Jintao, Harvard Professor Henry Gates, Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor and President Barack Obama, who takes top billing. What an impressive crew! Imagine getting that gang on the same panel.

Guzman alleges a hostile work environment exists at Rupert Murdoch's U.S. flagship. She specifically cites a female reporter complaining about a "Living La Vida Lesbian" headline over a story about Lohan.

Guzman charges the Post was not at its best when it reported that Richardson, a Hispanic, threw his "sombrero into the ring" in announcing a presidential bid. Other Guzman outrages: a report that Giants head coach Tom Coughlin was "tightening the noose" around African-American Burress, "knowing full well about the history of lynchings of black men throughout the country and what the image of a noose symbolizes to black people," and questions about whether former Hall of Famer and Dominican Republic native Martinez showed up for an interview carrying a gun or machete.

But the shocker of all allegations: the Post does not like our president. Really!!

Take Exhibit A, please. It's the awful Obama as dead chimp cartoon that ran in February. "There is no doubt that the chimpanzee pictured shot to death and lying in a pool of blood with three bullet holes was intended to be President Obama," says the complaint.

Guzman, who was let go by the Post in September, contends that key editors knew the cartoon was either "offensive" or "in poor taste" but decided to run it anyway. She alleges that Charles Hurt, D.C. bureau chief, confirmed to her that the Post's "goal is to destroy Barack Obama. We don’t want him to succeed."

From the complaint: "The Post's decision to publish the racist cartoon was part of a concerted effort at the company to undermine President Obama’s authority and attack the first African-American President in this country’s history."

This blogger doesn't necessarily buy the line that Murdoch is attacking Obama because he is black. The Post endorsed Obama over Hillary Clinton in the New York State presidential primary. It then backed McCain for president.

Murdoch is a political opportunist. His British papers supported Labour Leader Tony Blair while he was prime minister, but are now throwing Blair's successor, Gordon Brown, under the bus. Rupe does whatever it takes on the political front to sell some papers.

The Post has dismissed Guzman's lawsuit as a piece of junk.
