His credentials include speechwriter and senior policy
analyst in the Reagan White House, editor of the Washington
Times' editorial page, and author of "The West's
Last Chance: Will We Win the Clash of Civilizations?"
Rob Rehg, president of Edelman/D.C., calls Blankley a "perfect
fit" for what the firm does. Blankley has "thrived
at the intersection of politics, media and policy and his
broad experience and tested judgment will be invaluable,"
said Rehg in a statement.
Edelman also has named two high-profile Democrats
Toby Moffett and Paul Bledsoe as strategic counselors.
Moffett is a former congressman from Connecticut and VP
at Monsanto. He remains chairman of PLM Group, the entity
forged by Tony Podesta and Bob Livingston's lobbying firms.
Bledsoe handled communications for climate change issues
in Bill Clinton's White House and worked in the Dept. of
Interior under Bruce Babbitt.
