Fed Up In NYC! (2/23):
Now if we can only get the automakers to do the same we might be on our way to solving this economic nightmare. Bailouts AREN'T the answer.
Joe Honick, GMA International Ltd (2/23):
Fedup may be correct that bailouts are not the answer. Now, Fedup, what IS the answer? This is what is missing from the folks putting the knock on the so called stimulus effort born before Obama hit town as president.
Veep (2/23):
$400M debt is a lot to be carrying these days.
Wes Pedersen (2/23):
How the mighty are falling. The Philadelphia Inquirer stood tall and proud for decades. To see it in such sad shape is to see the honorable profession of journalism shrivel before our eyes. Can the NY Times be far behind? (Yes, it's almost shroud-time for the Gray Lady.)
Ron Levy, NAPS Research Director (2/24):
There is HUGE opportunity for PR to help newspapers and the public--and to simultaneously help ourselves in a major way. The public is HUNGRY for help, we in PR have information the public needs and would love to have, and the newspapers are admirably quaified to transmit the information.
I'm talking about really expert and needed info our companies have on health, homemaking, family finances, public policy, travel, technology and more: the public needs it, we have it, so there's opportunity for progress!
Too many people seem almost willing to issue a DNR (Do Not Resuscitate) order for newspapers. It would be better to not only order resuscitation but to authorize time-and-a-half if extra hours are necessary--plus expense money.
Churchill might have observed that never before have so many needed so much--and with so damn few providing it.
