Carlos Gutierrez, chairman of APCO Worldwide's Global Political Strategies unit formed in January to support businesses, governments and NGOs on geopolitics, global economics and new market opportunities, is joining Citigroup.
The former Kellogg Co. CEO and U.S. Commerce Secretary is taking the vice chairman at slot Citi's international clients group. He also becomes part of the banking giant's senior strategic advisory group.
John Havens, CEO of Citi's ICG, expects Gutierrez's "vast corporate experiences, global perspectives and respect as a trusted advisor" to benefit clients.
Darren Murphy, political communications advisor to former U.K. Prime Minister Tony Blair, is managing director of GPS, which is co-headquartered in London and Washington..
APCO CEO Margery Kraus said the search to replace Gutierrez is "in the process."
