He takes over for Jack Bergen, who slides into the VP-human resources slot.
Besides AIG, Ashooh handled PR at American Electric Power, Niagara Mohawk Power Corp. and Public Service of New Hampshire. That experience is expected to pay benefits at Alcoa, which faces a broad array of energy and environmental challenges.
At Alcoa, Ashooh will handle PR, government affairs, community relations and charitable programs.
Alcoa CEO Klaus Kleinfield called Ashooh a "seasoned communications professional with a proven track record in good times and bad."
Bergen joined Alcoa September 2008 following Kleinfeld to the aluminum company.
Kleinfeld had also been Bergen’s boss at Siemens USA.
Anastasia Kelly, AIG's vice chairman for legal, human resources, corporate affairs, and corporate communications, resigned from the company last week after her salary was cut under TARP-mandated rules.
Christina Pretto, who joined AIG last year from Citigroup to head media relations, is filling in for Ashooh. |
