A high-profile Broadway musical in the works centered on Spider-Man has seen a change in PR representation three years into its closely watched (and expensive) development.
Broadway PR firm Boneau/Bryan-Brown has relinquished the reins on the production, which has garnered attention as Bono and the Edge from U2 wrote music and lyrics for the show, “Lion King” director Julie Taymor signed on to direct, and delays and a mounting budget attracted interest.
It was originally set to open in February but now producers say it will open later this year. The production's record-breaking budget is pegged at $50M.
A rival theatrical PR firm, O&M, has taken over PR duties.
The New York Times first reported the change noting Boneau/Bryan-Brown spent three years “handling the torrents of media inquiries about the much-delayed musical and its history-making budget.” Adrian Bryan-Brown said in a statement that the decision to resign was a “personal” one.
