Thailand, in the aftermath of the worst political violence in its modern history, has hired Podesta Group to "protect its international reputation."
Tony Podesta's firm is involved in message development, media outreach and communications training of Thai officials. It will earn $80K per month for the three-month effort. A formal contract has not yet been finalized.
Eighty-eight people were killed in a police crackdown on demonstrators in Bangkok from May 12-19. At least 1,800 were injured.
A state of emergency remains in effect. The government is considering amnesty to protestors who were demonstrating peacefully.
John Podesta, Tony's brother, was President Clinton's chief of staff.
