Howard Kurtz, the Washington Post media columnist, is the new D.C. bureau chief of The Daily Beast, which is owned by Barry Diller’s IAC/InterActive. He will continue hosting "Reliable Sources" on CNN.
Tina Brown, editor-in-chief of the Beast, admires Kurtz’s “understanding of media and politics as the story of our era.”
In a statement, she called Kurtz is "that rare reporter with a metabolism that outpaces the frenetic subjects that he covers."
Kurtz is the author of five books including "Spin Cycle: Inside the Clinton Propaganda Machine." His shift to the two-year-old political/cultural site caps a nearly 30-year career at the Post. He covered Congress and the Justice Dept. before focusing on the media.
The Beast attracts 4.5M unique users and more than 50M page views per month.
