Terry Neal, senior VP/director of strategic media at Hill & Knowlton’s Washington office, has joined LightSquared as senior VP-PR and communications.

The Reston, Va.-based company is a unit of Harbinger Capital Partners. It is building the nation’s first open wireless broadband network based on 4G-long term evolution technology. Harbinger has invested nearly $3B for LightSquared’s network that is slated for completion in 2015.
Neal was a Washington Post journalist, serving in the assistant metro editor, national political reporter and columnist. In conjunction with Yahoo News, he produced and hosted the weekly “Political Players with Terry Neal” video services.
Neal also reported for the Miami Herald and Fort Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel and was managing director at the Caraway Group. At LightSquared, he reports to Frank Boulben, chief marketing officer.
