Trade group PR veteran Ned Monroe has been tapped by the National Association of Manufacturers in D.C. as senior VP for external relations.

Monroe exits the National Automatic Merchandising Association, the trade group for the retail vending machine sector, where he led government affairs.
NAMA COO Dan Matthews thanked Monroe for his service in a statement.
"The National Association of Manufacturers is a much, much larger organization than NAMA, and we congratulate him on this incredible opportunity," said Matthews.
At NAM, he's charged with organizing membership and educating the public on manufacturing sector issues. The group, one of the longest running trade groups in the U.S., founded in 1895, has been lately fighting what it sees as overreaching EPA legislation while supporting the so-called Cole Amendment in the House, which would prevent government contractors from having to disclose political donations.
Department of Homeland Security PA alum Erin Streeter is executive VP, communications, at NAM.
Previous stints for Monroe included the National Restaurant Association (VP, political affairs) and the Associated Builders and Contractors.
NAMA has engaged a search to replace Monroe and said it is using lobbying shop Howe & Hutton to represent the industry as needed.
