5W Public Relations CEO Ronn Torossian helped raise more than $100,000 for Congressman Michael Grimm, New York City's only Republican representative, yesterday via an "intimate gathering" at the Madison Ave. Prime Grill & Solo Restaurant.
Those who anted up a $2,500 donation were treated to a pitch by House Majority Leader Eric Cantor. Torossian co-hosted the affair with Joey Allaham, owner of the upscale kosher eatery.
Torossian told O'Dwyer's that Grimm is "my good friend" and one "who has emerged among Israel's best friends in Congress."
The first-term congressman, who represents all of Staten Island and a slice of Brooklyn, last month praised Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for displaying true leadership by "standing up for Israel" in his meeting with President Barack Obama.
"As a member of Congress, I will never support any policy that renders more vulnerable or divides the sovereign Jewish state of Israel," said the co-chair of the House Republican Israel Caucus in a statement.
On the legislative front, Grimm has introduced bills to repeal the tax on indoor tanning salons under the new health law, establish a pilot program to provide service dogs to veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder symptoms, slap sanctions on countries that don't pay their New York City parking tickets, and award a Congressional Gold Medal posthumously to Giuseppe Garibaldi, who reunified Italy 150 years ago.
