The publisher said Perino will initiate and submit from six to eight non-fiction book projects per year from conservative political or media personalities.
Perino, who was an advisor, through her PR shop, Dana Perino and Company, for the campaign that rolled out George W. Bush’s “Decision Points” last year from Crown, will also help produce PR campaigns for Crown publications. She also worked with Scribner on Laura Bush’s “Spoken from the Heart” last year.
Other writers in Crown’s stable include Ann Coulter, Pat Buchanan and Charles Krauthammer, who is slated to publish a book before the 2012 election.
Perino will continue to run her firm and serve Burson-Marsteller.
Perino was Bush’s final press secretary, moving up from the deputy slot in 2007 to hold the post until the end of his term in early 2009. She was previously at the Justice Dept. and on the Hill.
Random House is owned by Bertelsmann AG.
