Cornell University is working with New York PR support as it views with Stanford University in a competition to build a science and engineering campus in the Big Apple.
Ithaca-based Cornell, which has a medical school in the city, is working with Berlin Rosen, the Manhattan public affairs firm of political vets Valerie Berlin and Jonathan Rosen, on its bid.
As previously reported, Stanford hired Edelman for its own pitch.
The New York City Economic Development Corp. solicited proposals from schools through Oct. 28 after Mayor Michael Bloomberg said he wants a renowned engineering campus in New York to bolster the city’s technology economy.
The NYCEDC will offer $100M grants and free land for the winning institution. A decision is expected in 2012.
While most reports peg Cornell and Stanford as front-runners, Carnegie Mellon University, as well as a New York University/Columnbia University team are also expected to bid.
