Patton Boggs has inked a one-year $600K pact with Kosovo to improve relations with the U.S. Kosovo, which was part of Serbia, declared its independence three years ago.
PB’s engagement letter with Kosovo’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs calls for it to expand bilateral and multilateral relations, push for foreign aid and foster investment and trade opportunities.
PB reports to Kosovo prime minister Hashim Thaci.
The Associated Press reported August 29 that a U.S. prosecutor is investigating charges that Thaci, a former commander in the Kosovo Liberation Army, spearheaded a network that sold the organs of Serbian prisoners during its `98-`99 war with Serbia. Thaci, who has denied those allegations, says he will cooperate with any investigation.
Kosovo’s MFA will review its relationship with PB in six months. The contract began Sept. 1.
