The Food Marketing Institute, which represents more than 1,500 food retailers and wholesalers, has added the firm of former Oklahoma Senator Don Nickles to its lobbying lineup.
The Republican formed The Nickles Group in 2005 after serving 24 years on Capitol Hill. He reps the Arlington, Va.-headquartered trade group on financial, budgetary and labeling issues.
Nickles is joined on the account by TNG co-founder Cindi Merifield Tripodi. In a previous role as VP-congressional affairs at the Motion Picture Assn. of America, Tripodi was chief lobbyist for the group’s former head Jack Valenti. Earlier, she was managing director for Public Strategies Inc., working the American Medical Assn. business.
Other TNG staffers serving FMI are Doug Badger, deputy assistant to President George Bush II for legislative affairs, and Jeff Choudhry, ex-aide to Rep. Trent Franks (R-Ariz.).
