The Moffett Group is working federal issues surrounding Republic Solar Highways’ plan to install solar power on remnant government property along California’s Route 101.
Republic has ironed out a deal with the California Dept. of Transportation to put power generating systems on more than 65 acres of land on the state freeway system.
The power will be sold to the local utilities. The company envisions the California system will serve as a template for other solar projects throughout the country.
San Jose-based Republic Solar is part of Republic Family of Companies, the real estate investment company with $4B in assets under management.
Former Congressman Toby Moffett (D-Conn.) is working the account. He’s joined by Michael Leibner, former aide to the late Sen. Ted Kennedy, and Michael Kelley, staffer to ex-Republican Congressman Steve Buyer and Virginia’s Frank Wolf.
