Hope Boonshaft, who led Hill + Knowlton Strategies’ Los Angeles and Irvine offices until January, has moved to Washington-based Gibraltar Associates as GM of its L.A. operation.

Boonshaft takes the title of executive VP and GM of the outpost, a new position, and will head Gibraltar’s entertainment and technology efforts.
Thomas Pernice, co-founder of the agency and former VP of public affairs at Dole Food Company, continues to lead the L.A. office.
H+K installed Bill Coletti to head its Southern California operation in January, replacing Boonshaft, who joined in 2007.
Boonshaft led H+K’s global entertainment practice as executive VP and GM after 10 years at Sony Pictures Entertainment as EVP of external affairs, including the handling of Sony’s overtures to the Chinese government after the company’s ban for the release of “Seven Years in Tibet.”
She also led communications for the LA Opera, ran her own shop and was a GM for Edelman.
Earlier, she was director of community relations in the Carter administration.
Gibraltar posted a 25% increase in revenue for 2011 to $4.9M with 19 staffers.
