MPA, which re-branded from the Magazine Publishers Association in 2010, will give Wagner an executive VP, communications, title when she starts Jan. 7, based in New York.
Howard Polskin is currently EVP/comms. & events for MPA and an eight-year veteran of the group. He told O'Dwyer's he will be leaving MPA at the end of the year.
Wagner was EVP, comms., public affairs and advocacy for Lifetime Networks before moving to the non-profit WWI in 2009, when Lifetime was acquired by A&E. She was with Lifetime for 22 years.
MPA CEO Mary Berner, who replaced 13-year MPA chief Nina Link in September, said Wagner has a keen understanding of “how to speak to – and serve – our myriad constituents and stakeholders.” The New York-based trade group, which has a Washington, D.C., government affairs office claims 225 domestic magazine media companies, 50 global companies and 100 associate members.
